Say Goodbye to Frustrating Freckles with BBL™ Therapy
Freckles don’t harm your health, but they may harm your self-esteem. Since most people associate freckles with childhood, you may try to hide your adult freckles under makeup and clothing.
We have a better way.
Our team of master estheticians at Gago Wellness in Brighton, Michigan, offers the most advanced freckle-removing technology available — BroadBand Light™ (BBL) therapy. Created by Sciton®, one of the nation’s light-source and laser skin solution technology leaders, our Forever Young BBL treatments wipe away your unwanted freckles and come with several other amazing benefits.
Here’s what you need to know about freckles and Forever Young BBL.
What are freckles?
Call them spots, dots, or sun kisses, freckles are merely clumps of pigmented cells in your skin. These cells, called melanocytes, produce melanin, the pigment that gives your skin, hair, and eyes their unique color.
When melanocytes kick into overdrive and produce excess melanin, the pigment gathers into clumps that appear as freckles on your skin.
Anyone can get freckles, but they appear most frequently on folks who have light skin. Blondes and redheads are common targets because fair-skinned people have little natural protection from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Melanin forms a shield between you and the sun, absorbing some of it and reflecting the rays away from your deeper skin layers.
Many light-skinned people don’t tan when exposed to the sun; they freckle instead. Here’s a look at the two main types of freckles.
Ephelides
These are the classic spots most people recognize as freckles. Ephelides are small, usually about the size of a pencil tip and no larger than a crayon tip. They appear light tan, brown, or reddish and are most common in children and teens. Ephelides tend to darken in the summer as sun exposure increases and fade in the winter. Many people outgrow ephelides as they age.
Solar lentigines
Larger than ephelides, solar lentigines can grow to a centimeter in diameter. In addition to freckle colors, solar lentigines can also appear bright red, black, or yellow and don’t change with the seasons. Solar lentigines show up most frequently on dark and aging skin.
How to get rid of freckles
A leopard may not be able to change its spots — but you can.
You may have tried topical solutions to eliminate your freckles only to find that the product irritated your skin and left your spots unchanged. That’s because the melanin lives in the deeper skin layers where the cream can’t reach.
You need something that can penetrate those layers and target the melanin clumps, which is exactly what Forever Young BBL does. In a short, painless, noninvasive treatment session, the BBL device sends light energy into your skin and goes straight to the hyperpigmented places — your freckles.
The pigmented cells absorb the light energy, heat up, and break apart. Your body senses an injury and sends healing reinforcements, producing new cells and flooding the area with fresh collagen. Over the next few days and weeks, your skin sloughs off the destroyed freckle cells, and new skin layers emerge.

Our Gago Wellness team can adjust the BBL device’s settings and the number of passes to address a variety of skin complaints, including:
